BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Baseball (2-4) managed just four hits in a 6-1 defeat by Iowa (5-1) on Saturday afternoon. The Owls will look to salvage the series in Sunday's finale.
THE BEGINNING
Iowa scored two in the second inning on a single, a double, and an error, but FAU starter

THE TURNING POINT
The Hawkeyes tacked on two in the sixth, one in the seventh, and one in the ninth. Florida Atlantic's best chance came in the seventh with runners on first and third with one out, but they could not cash in.
THE FINISH
The Owls broke the shutout in the ninth with hits from
Nick Romano and
Brando Leroux and a sacrifice fly from
Michael Perazza.
QUOTABLE
Head Coach John McCormack
"Losing is not fun, but there was a lot of good that happened today. We have to stay the course. This is a good baseball team. We've worked hard for the past 190 days, since the Fall. Things sometimes don't go your way. We hit some balls right on the screws and didn't get anything out of it. We just need one thing to go our way to get things rolling in the right direction."
THE BATS
- Leroux finished 2-for-3 with a single and a double to lead the offense.
- Iowa outhit the Owls 9-4.
THE ARMS
- Murphy took a hard-luck loss after five innings with three earned runs on four hits.
- He tied a career high with eight strikeouts.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Owls and the Hawkeyes will square up for the series finale at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
