Cary, N.C. – Florida Atlantic pitcher James Litman has been invited to USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team Training Camp. The Boca Raton native is coming off a breakout sophomore season where he earned American First Team All-Conference honors. Litman made every series-opening start for the Owls, finishing with an 8-3 record and team-best 3.56 ERA.
The Collegiate National Team will play three days of exhibition doubleheaders for a combined six games between June 27-29 in Burlington and Cary, North Carolina, and Danville, Virginia. Following the three days of exhibition games, the annual Stars vs. Stripes series will begin on June 30 at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The next three games will be held at the National Training Complex in Cary from July 1-3, and the series will return to Segra Stadium July 4 for the finale.
The final team, which will be named on July 5 following the conclusion of Training Camp, will then compete in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship at Taichung City Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taichung City, Taiwan, July 11-15.
The team will be led by University of Illinois Head Coach Dan Hartleb. Former major leaguers Rick Ankiel, David Eckstein, and Mike Scioscia will also serve on the coaching staff.
Head coach John McCormack
"We are excited that James has been selected to play for Team USA. It is an honor and a privilege for him and our program. It is a testament to his hard work. I am proud of him."
