Gramesty Earns 2025 Iron Owl

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sophomore catcher TJ Gramesty has been named the winner of Florida Atlantic baseball's 2025 Iron Owl competition.
The Iron Owl is a competition that debuted prior to the 2008 preseason. The goal is to foster team camaraderie while ensuring that each individual player understands what it is like to compete on a daily basis. The program aims for each player to reach their highest potential in the classroom, on the field, and in the weight room. The award identifies the strongest Owl baseball player, both mentally and physically. In addition to team and individual competitions off the field, each player's GPA from the fall semester is also taken into account.

"TJ had a great competition. He grinded out event after event, and I'm really proud of him. It's a tough week, and he did a great job. This was one of the closest margins of victory (six points) in the history of the Iron Owl."
This year's competition began on November 14 and concluded on the 21st. Events included a race to the top of a five-floor parking garage, basketball, a football passing relay and field goal kicking competition, a weight room circuit, swimming relay races, and finally a gauntlet obstacle course.
Results were unofficial until fall grades were finalized. Gramesty held off junior pitcher Austin Waring and freshman infielder Jonathan Lopez. Waring and Lopez also guided the red team to victory in the team competition along with Danny Baez, Zach Kilby, Xavier Moronta, and Ryan Buckler.
