Red Sox Select Adetuyi in MLB Draft

BOSTON – The Boston Red Sox selected Florida Atlantic pitcher Kide Adetuyi in the seventh round (214th overall) of Sunday's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Adetuyi becomes the 103rd MLB draft pick in FAU baseball history and the fifth to be chosen by the Red Sox.
The redshirt sophomore earned the draft day call with a breakout 2026 campaign. Beginning the year as the Owls' midweek starter, Adetuyi turned heads with a 10-strikeout performance against Miami on February 25. After he fanned six in his next start against Florida, the decision was made to move the lefty to the weekend rotation. He continued to impress while manning the Owls' Saturday starter role, finishing the season with a 4.19 ERA and 85 strikeouts, third-most in the American Conference.

A total of 14 players from the American Conference were selected in the 2026 Draft. Since the 20-round format was instituted in 2021, the American has seen 14 or more players selected in single drafts in five of the past six years.
