Florida Atlantic Owls to Kick Off Indoor Season in Birmingham

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University track & field team is ready for a big 2023. The Owls are set to kick off their indoor season in Birmingham for the Blazer Invitational on Friday and Vulcan Invite on Saturday. Both meets will be hosted by UAB.

This will mark the final year for the Florida Atlantic Owls'Â track & field competing in Conference USA. Beginning with the 2023 cross country season, FAU will move to the American Athletic Conference for their cross country and track competitions.

Last Time Out
FAU's last indoor competition was the 2022 C-USA Championships, also hosted by UAB in Birmingham.
- The Owls set a school record in the distance medley. The 'A' team (Casey O'Connor, Paige Saiz, Jordan Stevens, Eriana Teague) finished with a time of 11:59.61
- Cara Simpson took sixth in the 60m with a time of 7.58, fifth in school history
- Madlen Kappeler earned the fourth best 5000m run in FAU history (17:28.23)
- Jessica Lambert placed in fifth in the 800m (2:11.04) for the third best time in school history
Upcoming
The Owls will have a quick turnaround, heading to Gainesville to compete in the RADD Sports Invitational from Jan. 19-20.Â
