SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – The Florida Atlantic University track & field team completed the first of two days in the 2022 Conference USA Championships on Friday and Saturday. The Owls had a successful couple of days, which saw four top 10 finishes and three new entries into the finals tomorrow.

Quick Hits

The Owls first competed Friday night in the 10000m run. One year after breaking the school record, Madlen Kappeler impressed once again, finishing in seventh place (37:00.96) and recording the fifth best time in FAU history
Cara Simpson set a new personal best in the 100m to qualify for the finals with a time of 11.74, good for fifth place in school history. She also placed 12th in the 200m preliminaries
Casey O'Connor qualified for the 1500m finals after finishing 11th in the preliminaries (4:45.85)
Jessica Lambert finished fourth in the 800m with a time 2:09.69, also the fourth best time in school history. She is set compete in the finals tomorrow
Alexis Hill and Erin Shannon had solid showings in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with times of 2:11.45 and 2:18.56, respectively
