SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – The Florida Atlantic University track & field team completed the first of two days in the 2022 Conference USA Championships on Friday and Saturday. The Owls had a successful couple of days, which saw four top 10 finishes and three new entries into the finals tomorrow.

- The Owls first competed Friday night in the 10000m run. One year after breaking the school record, Madlen Kappeler impressed once again, finishing in seventh place (37:00.96) and recording the fifth best time in FAU history
- Cara Simpson set a new personal best in the 100m to qualify for the finals with a time of 11.74, good for fifth place in school history. She also placed 12th in the 200m preliminaries
- Casey O'Connor qualified for the 1500m finals after finishing 11th in the preliminaries (4:45.85)
- Jessica Lambert finished fourth in the 800m with a time 2:09.69, also the fourth best time in school history. She is set compete in the finals tomorrow
- Alexis Hill and Erin Shannon had solid showings in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with times of 2:11.45 and 2:18.56, respectively
