C-USA Championships Conclude with Bronze Medal and Personal Bests

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – The Florida Atlantic University track & field team concluded the fourth and final day of the 2022 Conference USA Championships. The Owls competed in a total of five events that were highlighted by two new personal records and a bronze finish. The Owls finished the meet in 13th place with 15 points.

"We're nowhere near where we want to be yet, but we're heading toward a bright and exciting future," said head coach Alex Smolka. "The growth, grit, maturity, dedication, coachability and the love for improving we've witnessed this year is tremendous! We're extremely proud of our tough and tenacious student athletes. I'm super thankful for our coaching staff, support staff and our administration."

The first round of the NCAA Championships in Bloomington Indiana will take place on May 26-28. The Owls will wait and see if any of their runners have qualified.

Quick Hits
- Jessica Lambert won the bronze medal for the second year in a row with a time of 2:09.31 in the 800m finals. This time is both her new personal best and is third best in FAU history. Lambert is now waiting to see whether she has qualified for the NCAA Regionals on May 25-28
- The PRs did not stop there as Cara Simpson had one of her own in the 100m finals (11.71). Simpson finished in fifth place
- Casey O'Connor placed 12th in the 1500m finals (4:49.33) She also led the way for the Owls in the 5000m, finishing in 22nd place (18:15.40)
- The 4x400 relay team (Beyonce Green, Lambert, Simpson, Eriana Teague) finished in sixth place with a time of 3:47.91
