TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida Atlantic's men's and women's cross country teams went on the road to compete in the FSU Invitational for the second consecutive year on Friday morning.
Both teams ran a 5K in the first morning race of the season for the Owls. It was a historic day for Florida Atlantic with three new entries into the top 10 record book, including a new number one time. This race marked the fastest team average in program history for the women (18:01.6), who placed in third out of 15 behind LSU and Florida State. The men's team placed eighth out of 11 teams.

Freshman
Constance Pittet set a new program record after nearly 14 years, now holding the best 5K time in school history with a mark of 17:32.9. Pittet placed seventh overall and came in first for Florida Atlantic. On the men's side,
Samuel Henery placed first for the Owls and 37th overall.
WomenÂ
- In just her third race of her collegiate career, Pittet came in first for Florida Atlantic and set a new program record after 14 years
- Andi VanMeter came in second for the Owls with a time of 17:51.7Â and is now fifth in program history
- Senior Elyssa Toal set a new record as she placed 20th overall with a time of 18:09.3. She is now No. 10 in program history in the 5K
- Leah Helms placed 26th overall with a time of 18:15.4
- Following closely behind was Jessica Hatch, as she registered a time of 18:18.9 in the 30th spot
- The Owls had five runners claim a spot in the top 30
- In her first cross country race, Rosa ten Berg registered a 18:34.3Â
MenÂ
- As a team, Florida Atlantic recorded 216Â points on the day
- Henery got it started for the Owls when he was the first to cross the finish line.
- Seconds behind was senior Paul Glick with a time of 26:52.1
- Noah Curfman was the third Owl to cross the finish line and came in 63rd with a 27:10.7
- In their third race of the season, Joseph Garcia (27:26.5), Jake Jacoby (27:50.8), and Enrique Toro (28:05.4) all finished consecutivelyÂ
- Out of 116 runners, three Owls placed in the top 60
The Owls will travel to Wichita, Kansas, to compete in the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championship at the Clapp Cross Country Course on Saturday, Nov. 2.
