TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University track & field team competed and succeeded at the USF Invitational on Saturday.
It was another on-point meet for the Owls, with two first place finishes and several more entries into the Florida Atlantic record books. After breaking the school record in her previous meet,
Jessica Lambert again shined in the 800m to finish in first place, while
Madlen Kappeler crushed the 5000m, winning by almost 30 seconds.
- Lambert took first place in the 800m with a time of 2:08.86 for the fourth best time in Florida Atlantic history
- Kappeler's time of 17:20.64 in the 5000m was almost 30 seconds ahead of the next runner. Kappeler's time is also good for fourth in school history
- Kappeler also led the way for the Owls in the 1500m (4:44.85) with a fourth place finish, followed by Casey O'Connor in fifth (4:47.56) and Jordan Stevens in sixth (4:48)
- Anabell Reumann continues to impress in the steeplechase. Running the 3000m, she finished in second place with a time of 10:56.35, the fourth best in Florida Atlantic history and besting her own personal record
- Cara Simpson stood out in both the 100m and 200m. In the 100, she finished in fifth place with a time of 11.85 for the ninth best time in school history, followed by a 10th place finish in the 200 (24.33)
- The recently-named C-USA Winter Spirit of Service Award winner Dahlia Barnes tallied 10th place in the long jump with a mark of 5.37
The Owls will have multiple well-deserved weekends of rest before returning to action on April 28 for the UNF Invite, their final meet before the C-USA outdoor championships.
