JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University track & field team wrapped up the second and final day of the UNF Invitational on Saturday. The Owls closed their regular season with a solid performance that included season bests and entries into FAU's top 10 record books. All eyes are now onto the upcoming Conference USA Championships.

Coach Smolka's Take

"We used this meet as a tune-up meet for what's to come," said head coach Alex Smolka. "We didn't taper and overall competed on tired legs in order to get ready for the C-USA's. Having said that, we're happy with our performances! It's not always about chasing personal records, it's about getting ready for the championship, and that's exactly what we did this weekend!"

Quick Hits

For the second meet in a row, Jess Lambert had another all-time school performance in the 800m (2:11.12) This time ranks fifth in FAU history. Lambert placed 10th and Casey O'Connor (2:16.65) placed 23rd out of 57 runners.
Morgan Sharp also set a personal best in the 800m (2:25.33)
Cara Simpson placed 19th in the 100m run. Her time of 11.85 is good for seventh all time in school history.
The 4x100 team (Breyanna Chambliss, Abraiya Elam, Alyssa Marshall, Simpson, Eriana Teague) finished with a season best time of 46.90 in a fifth-place finish

It's championship time. The Owls will have a week off before heading to San Antonio to compete in the Conference USA Championships on May 12-15.
