JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University track & field team commenced the North Florida Invitational, the first of two days of the meet, on Thursday.
Madlen Kappeler led the way with the third fastest 5000 meter time in school history after clocking in at 17:15.28.

- Ameion Hamlet captured 28th in the long jump with 5.19 meters
- Jessica Lambert delivered a big personal record in the 400 meters with a 17th-place finish. Her mark of 1:02.40 is now the ninth fastest time in school history
- Kendall Kirkland earned a personal record in the 400 meter hurdles (1:08.33) with 31st place
- Cara Simpson finished the 200 meters in 28th place (24.89)
- In the 1500 meters, Jordan Stevens put up a personal record of 4:50.26 for 36th place
- For her first time competing in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the collegiate level, Alexis Hill tallied eighth (12:31.61)
- Kappeler ran the 5000 meters in 17:15.28 to finish in ninth to claim the third fastest time in school history

The squad will finish up the UNF Invite tomorrow with the Owls' first event being the triple jump at 12:30 p.m.
