BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University men's tennis topped South Alabama in the first of the Owls' three matches in three days at the FAU Tennis Complex, winning on Thursday, 5-2.

Notables:

The Owls (4-4) won the doubles point for the fourth straight match, despite going down 1-0
On No. 3, Finn Stodder and Hunter Robbins equalized with a 6-2 win
Then it was a battle on the second court. Alvaro Fernandez Horta and Kevin Huempfner forced a tiebreak, actually went down 6-4 in the extra points, and rebounded to win, 7-6 (9-7)
Singles action saw quick straight-set wins at No. 6 and No. 1
Stodder prevailed, 6-2, 6-0; Maxime Lapraille as well, 6-4, 6-2
After a USA point, the clinch came via Fernandez Horta on No. 5, winning in three, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4
Huempfner added another win, in a second-set tiebreak, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3), taking his match on No. 3
