BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men's tennis team served up a shutout versus Temple in the first round of the American Conference Tennis Championship, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday afternoon.
The #7 FAU Owls improve to 9-11 on the season and to 5-1 all-time versus the #10 seed Temple Owls, who fell to 8-10.
FAU secured the doubles point versus Temple and continues to dominate doubles tennis, winning 14 of 20 doubles points this season.
THE BEGINNING

Segundo Goity Zapico grabbed a court #2 win to clinch the point while court #3 was abandoned at 4-4.
THE MIDDLE
Myslivec, a junior and one of just two upperclassmen, both juniors, put the Owls up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 win on court #5. Sophomore
Jan Kusy followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win on court #4, putting FAU within one of a victory.
THE END
The match was clinched by sophomore Goity Zapico, who captured court #2 at 6-2, 6-4, to give the Owls a shutout.

The championship is a single-elimination event. FAU will play No. 2 Charlotte at 3 p.m. on Friday. FAU and Charlotte played recently in Boca Raton, with the 49ers walking away with the 4-3 win. Should the Owls advance, they will play the winner of the Memphis vs. Tulsa match on Saturday at 1 p.m.
