BOCA RATON, Fla. – This weekend, Florida Atlantic men's tennis continues its road warrior ways to start the campaign, for the team's furthest trip scheduled this season. The Owls (1-1) will play in Tempe and Tucson, Arizona, against Arizona State and the University of Arizona, respectively.
Note: The match against ASU, originally scheduled for Friday, has moved up to Thursday night due to expected precipitation. It will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern, with possible streaming, but definite live stats (at the above links).

Owls' Weekend in Review
The Owls took a 5-2 win over Florida Gulf Coast last Saturday, nearly sweeping all the doubles matches and taking four of the first five singles points as well. Newcomers
Kevin Huempfner and
Finn Stodder each earned their first victories in an FAU uniform, and were joined in the win column by
Alvaro Fernandez Horta and
Gerard Escandell.

Owls' Weekend in Preview
The weekend starts off at Arizona State, in what will be the Sun Devils' first match of the new season. In last year's shortened spring, the team was 4-7; in the spring of 2019, 14-14. The team features the No. 14 doubles pair according to Oracle/ITA, in Tim Ruehl and Andrea Bolla.

Arizona is 3-1 on the early season, and with an 11-3 mark last year (and 17-8 the year prior), received votes in the preseason Oracle/ITA top 25 team poll. The Wildcats also placed three players in the preseason singles rankings: Jonas Ziverts (No. 50), Filip Malbasic (No. 54) and Gustaf Strom (tied for No. 105).

What's Next
A doubleheader in Tallahassee is next on the docket, among three matches scheduled next weekend. The Owls will face Georgia Southern on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m., then either Florida State or Furman at 3 p.m. that same day. Next Sunday, in Mobile, Alabama, the squad matches up against South Alabama at noon. After that, it's the 2021 home opener, on Saturday, Feb. 13, hosting Florida Gulf Coast.
