BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team has been prepping all winter long for the 2020 Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The championships kick off tomorrow and will carry into Sunday for finals. All the action will take place at UAB, who will be hosting the big meet at Birmingham CrossPlex.

At the 2019 C-USA Indoor Championships, the Owls rounded out in 12th place with 27 points. UTEP took home the gold as a team with 89.50 points. Natalliah Whyte led the way with two individual wins coming in the 60m and 200m dash. In the distance medley relay, the team of Mikaela Jonsson, Searra Woods, Megan Giovanniello and Elizabeth Wellman just missed the podium for fourth place. The team's time of 12:13.90 became the sixth best in FAU history.

On finals day, Cara Simpson took 15th place in the triple jump with a personal record score of 11.70m. Also on the final day, Jonsson was the top Owl finisher in the 3000m run with a time of 10:38.96, while Giovaniello followed at 10:46.54.Â

Last Time Out
The Owls finished the regular season of the indoor slate at the South Carolina Invitational two weekends ago. Mikaela Jonsson finished seventh in the 800m with a personal record time of 2:11.70, which currently stands as the third best time in the conference. The redshirt junior also captured 16th in the mile (5:13.81). Brooke Butterfield tallied 18th in the 800m with a personal record of 2:18.86. The 4X400 relay team of Jessica Lambert, Lyric Schmalz, Roshelle Francois and Anne-Catherine Wasser finished the weekend in eighth place (3:48.95).
