BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University track and field team will close out the regular season at the Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville on Friday and Saturday. The event is hosted by the University of Florida at the Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.

THE FIELD
FAU will be competing against No. 5 Florida, No. 6 Florida State, No. 14 Miami, No. 17 Tennessee, Bethune-Cookman, Boston, Connecticut, Jacksonville, Kent State, North Carolina, N.C. State, USF, Syracuse, UCF, and North Carolina A&T.

LAST TIME OUT
In their last outing, the Owls competed at the nearby Hurricane Alumni Invite in Miami.
Natalliah Whyte highlighted the weekend by breaking the school record in the 200 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 23.28. She was awarded Conference USA Track Athlete of the Week for her performance, marking the fourth time in 2019 Whyte has received the league's weekly honor.

Jamesha Moorer reset a couple of personal records at the meet, registering the fifth fastest 100 meter dash time in school history.
Lauren Macon made the proverbial podium with a second place finish in the 5000 meter run. Â

ABOUT THE OWLS
Heading into the outdoor season, the Owls were ranked No. 39 nationally by the USTFCCCA in the preseason poll. Whyte is currently ranked fourth in the country in the 100 meter dash.
Â
In the first week of the season, Whyte set a school record by running the 100 meter in 11.17. That mark led the NCAA for the first few weeks of the season. It now ranks as the sixth fastest time. Â
UP NEXT
The Owls will head into the postseason in May with the Conference USA Outdoor Championship in Charlotte. The event will span May 9-12.
