BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University track and field team will compete in a pair of events this weekend starting with the UF Relays Thursday-Saturday and the Spikes Classic hosted by Embry-Riddle on March 29.

"The Florida Relays are always a highlight of the season. The tradition, elite level competition and atmosphere can lead to great performances. We will have individuals racing on Thursday and Friday in Gainesville and we'll also have a group competing at Embry-Riddle on Friday evening before we cap off the weekend with relays on Saturday at UF."

LAST TIME OUT
The Owls continued the outdoor season at the UCF Knights Invite last weekend. In total, three FAU athletes set new personal records and the Owls had 17 athletes finish in the top 10 of an event. The 4x100 relay team of
Jamesha Moorer,
Natalliah Whyte,
Renee Shaw and
Jenae Ambrose just missed out on first place, finishing in 45.50 which is the fifth fastest time in school history.
Liz Wellman earned second place in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:47.17.
Mikaela Jonsson finished in fourth place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:14.70. Â Â Â

ABOUT THE OWLS
Heading into the outdoor season, the Owls were ranked No. 39 nationally by the USTFCCCA in the preseason poll. The first poll of the regular season will be released on April 1.
Natalliah Whyte was ranked fifth in the country in the 100 meter dash and seventh in the 200 meter dash in the preseason poll.
Jenae Ambrose was ranked 22nd in the 200 meter.

In the first week of the season, Whyte set a school record by running the 100 meter in 11.17. That mark not only leads the NCAA this season, but leads the world in 2019 after two weeks of the outdoor season.
