- Played for Lorena High School under Head Coach Kevin Johnson, where he was a two-year varsity letterman and starter
- Named First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Area, All-Smoaky Team (2A-6A) Central Texas, Second Team All-State Padilla Coaches Poll Tight End, Second Team All-State
- Led team to a conference and sectional championship and a runner-up regional finish
- As a junior, collected 28 passes for 520 yards and eight touchdowns
