GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team fell prey to two quick goals in succession to start the second half, falling to North Dakota on Bronson Field Sunday afternoon, 2-0. This is the Owls' first loss since (2-3-4) in nearly a month, in the last tuneup before American Conference play begins later this week.
THE TURNING POINT
It was scoreless at the half between the Owls and the Fighting Hawks (3-3-1), but the home squad capitalized on a penalty kick in the 49th minute, and a turnover and opportunity for another goal just 1:31 later for a quick 2-0 advantage.
THE FINISH
That score would hold, as UND kept the Owls away from the net for most of the remainder of the second half, allowing just three shots over the timespan following the scores. The Fighting Hawks held a 16-4 shot advantage overall in the match.
