BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic football team concluded its second spring under Hagerty Family Head Coach Zach Kittley, capped off with the Friday Night Showcase presented by Phil Smith Acura and Phil Smith Kia on Howard Schnellenberger Field at Flagler Credit Union Stadium.
In a matchup where the ones faced the ones, twos faced the twos, and threes faced the threes, the Owls played four quarters with a running clock. Also included was a brief seven-minute halftime break.
It was a back-and-forth matchup between the offense in red versus defense in white on Friday night with two touchdowns by the offense and two interceptions by the defense in a non-scoring affair.
With over 40 new players on the roster, the spring game gave fans their first opportunity to see newcomers such as WR Kelby Valsin and RB Leonard Farrow show off their offensive prowess, including a Valsin red zone, 50-50 jump ball that resulted in a touchdown. On the day, 14 different players caught a pass from four different QBs.
On defense, freshman DB Justin Weatherall continued his strong spring, jumping in front of a pass that resulted in an interception, the defense's second of the evening. Redshirt sophomore DB Amar Reynolds finished the day with four tackles to go along with two pass breakups.
