Six Owls Selected to 2027 Shriners Children’s East-West Bowl 1000 List

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Six Florida Atlantic football players were identified as part of the 2027 Shriners Children's East-West Bowl 1000, announced the Shriner's Bowl on Tuesday.

QB Caden Veltkamp, WR Easton Messer, OL Vincent Fiacable and Ja'Kavion Nonar, DL CJ Doggette Jr., and LB Leon Hart Jr. are on the watchlist of the annual East-West Shrine Bowl, which features the top draft-eligible seniors in the nation.

With six on the list, Florida Atlantic has the most selections among American Conference teams.

Veltkamp finished his 2025 campaign ranked among the nation's top 25 in six categories, including No. 1 in completions per game (28.76), No. 3 in passing yards per game (303.4) and No. 6 in total offensive yards per game (307.4).

Messer was Veltkamp's top target, leading the country in receptions per game (8.67) and finishing 15th in receiving yards (1,052).

The duo of Nonar and Fiacable protected this lethal passing attack, with 23 2025 starts. Nonar blocked for Veltkamp at left tackle while Fiacable manned the middle at center and is expected to also see time at guard in 2026.

Doggette Jr. is fresh off an American Conference Third-Team selection after leading the team with four sacks along with seven tackles for a loss.

Hart Jr. joined Doggette Jr. with All-Conference third-team honors. In 11 games, he totaled a team-best 96 tackles.

The Shriners Children's East-West Bowl takes place in Arlington, Texas on February 4, 2027.
