BOCA RATON, Fla. – Before returning to play at home, the No. 23 Florida Atlantic softball team will make a one-day trip to Fort Myers to play against Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday, Feb. 17. First pitch between the Owls (6-4) and Eagles (4-5) is at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
The Owls are fresh off the 2026 Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, competing against powerhouse opponents including No. 1 Texas Tech, No. 2 Tennessee, and No. 5 Florida State. Florida Atlantic went 1-4 in the five games, closing with a 13-2 victory over James Madison on Sunday, led by senior third baseman
Jesiana Mora, who tied her career high with four hits.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- Head Coach Jordan Clark is in her fourth season at the helm of the program and owns a 127-52 record. Clark and her assistants have received the American Conference Coaching Staff of the Year recognition in both 2024 and '25.
- Florida Atlantic was ranked No. 1 in the American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Senior pitcher Autumn Courtney became the program's fifth All-American after winning the unanimous American Conference Pitcher of the Year. She opened the '26 season winning American Pitcher of the Week after recording two wins and a save against all three Big Ten opponents with 16 total strikeouts.
- In her debut weekend with the Owls, sophomore Lily Holtje recorded five hits, six walks, three doubles, a home run, and six RBI. She was awarded the season's first American Player of the Week and currently leads the team with 10 RBI.
- Mora is the reigning American Defensive Player of the Year and an All-Conference second team recipient. She has had a strong start at the plate, leading the team with a .500 batting average, 15 hits, two home runs, and nine RBI.
- Freshman pitcher Makenna Lee owns a 2-0 record with a 2.14 ERA and 12 strikeouts.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
- Lindsay Fico is in her first season as the Eagles' head coach after four seasons with Mercer.
- Graduate outfielder Olivia Black leads the team offensively with 14 hits on a .467 batting average.
- Catcher Sietske Drijvers is tied for the Eagles' lead in RBI with six.
- Senior pitcher Grace Taylor has recorded three starts in four appearances and owns a 3.89 ERA.
- The Eagles and Owls have squared off 19 times, with FAU holding the slight 10-9 advantage in the all-time series. The two last met in 2024, with FGCU winning 3-2 in the NCAA Regionals.
UP NEXT
The Owls will host the Joan Joyce Classic at FAU Softball Stadium from Thursday, Feb. 19 to Sunday, Feb. 22. On the docket are opponents Kansas, UMass, Southern Indiana, and Villanova.
