Softball Top 10 Fielding Defense

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Under Head Coach Jordan Clark, the Florida Atlantic softball team continues to boast one of the top defenses nationwide. In 2026, the Owls finished with a .979 fielding percentage, No. 9 among all Division I teams.
This marks FAU's third consecutive year as a national top-10 defense. In 2024, Florida Atlantic's defense ranked No. 6 with a .980 percentage. With Associate Head Coach Shelby Petik overseeing the defense beginning in 2025, the unit achieved a program record .983 percentage, No. 2 in Division I.
Florida Atlantic is joined by Arkansas and Oklahoma as the only teams that have finished as a top-10 defense by fielding percentage in each of the last three years.
Individually, the past three seasons also saw third baseman Jesiana Mora win the American Conference's Defensive Player of the Year award in 2025, in addition to left fielder Bella Foran becoming the first NFCA Rawlings Gold Glove recipient in program history following the 2026 campaign.
In each of the past three years, the Owls' defense has helped guide them to back-to-back American Conference Championships in 2024 and 2025, two NCAA Regional appearances and three consecutive 34+ win seasons.
