MIAMI, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team fell to FIU on Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-1.
After a small weather delay, the Owls drop their third match of the young season (0-3-1) to the Panthers (1-1-1).
In the 12th minute of the match, FAU senior
Leila Etemadi connected with the back of the net for her first goal of her career. The Etemadi goal was assisted by
Hailey Santiago, also a career first, and
Michelle Horan. Horan's assist marks her first of the season and extends her FAU career total to eight. FIU answered back in the 27th minute to tie the match 1-1. The Panthers scored again shortly after to take the lead 2-1. With five minutes left in the first half, FIU extended its lead with another goal to close out the first 45 minutes of play with the Panthers leading by a 3-1 score.
The second half was again delayed by the weather. The Owls came out for the remaining 45 minutes with a different intensity. Four of the Owls' five shots on goal came in the second half of the match.

Megan Hogate and defender
Lily Paisant recorded their first start in an FAU jersey. Hogate improved to four career saves after transferring from Texas. Paisant registered the full 90 minutes in her collegiate debut. Senior
Stella Rubidoux and redshirt sophomore also played the full 90 on the night.
The Owls ended the night with nine total shot attempts, five of which were shots on goal. At the end of the match, both teams were tied with five SOG, and FIU totaled ten shots to close out the evening.
