Florida Atlantic Comes Up Short Versus FGCU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team dropped a Thursday evening match to Florida Gulf Coast by a score of 2-1.
It was another early start for the Owls (0-4-1), when a Morgan McDonald corner kick deflected off an Eagles (2-1) defender for a 1-0 lead just five minutes in, the second game in a row in which FAU scored first.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Small recorded a save for a clean first half, with the Owls holding the 1-0 lead at the break.
FGCU struck back with the equalizer 10 minutes into the second half, with the go-ahead header goal coming four minutes later. The Owls found their way to the net with multiple late shots on goal but could not capitalize with the tying score.
