IRVING, Texas – As the Florida Atlantic women's soccer team continues to earn points with wins in league play, its players continue to be honored as well, with three Owls recognized Monday as part of the American Conference's weekly awards.
A week after being chosen Honorable Mention,
Lily Holden is the conference's latest Goalkeeper of the Week. Midfielder
Lola Hathorne has been honored as American Freshman of the Week on back-to-back Mondays, and her four Freshman nods this year ties the single-season American record. Last but not least,
Sutton Markee marked her return to the pitch with an Honorable Mention recognition.
LILY HOLDEN
Holden has been instrumental in the Owls' current three-match winning – and shutout – streak. In this week's two road conference victories, 2-0 over North Texas and 3-0 over Tulsa, she saved five shots in each match, including a penalty kick save in the latter against the Golden Hurricane – in what was just a 2-0 game at that point. Her save percentage is now over 90% on the year, and she is 5-1-1 in matches started in net.
"We knew this week was going to be very important," said Holden. "This season we've struggled to capitalize with results on the road, so coming away with six points and two shutouts was huge for the team. I'm so grateful for this recognition and to be part of this team. I hope that we can continue with this momentum throughout the rest of conference play."
Head Coach
Patrick Baker on Holden: "We are proud of how Lily has handled her goalkeeping duties and how she organized the back line this past week. She made a number of crucial saves in each game and saved a penalty in the second half versus Tulsa – she is growing in confidence with each game she plays."
LOLA HATHORNE
Hathorne continues to build upon her tremendous freshman campaign as a key offensive cog in both road wins. Against North Texas, she assisted on the final goal of the match to create cushion late. Then in Sunday's win at Tulsa, she had the game-winning goal early, on a successful penalty kick, and provided the assist on the team's second goal to again pad the advantage. That brings her to five goals and six assists on the season.
"I'm grateful for this recognition – all glory to Jesus," said Hathorne. "I'm extremely proud of the team and how we performed. We came on this road trip with goals, and we did everything to achieve them. We have more to show, so I'm excited for what awaits us."
Coach Baker on Hathorne: "Lola keeps playing and performing at a high standard. A lot of what she creates is leading to real positive moments for her and the team. She showed composure on the Sunday PK and had a timely assist to Sephora (Joachim) for our second goal versus Tulsa."
SUTTON MARKEE
Markee, returning from injury after missing six weeks of action, scored in each of her first two matches back. She recorded the game-winning goal at North Texas, and then in the win over Tulsa, provided the final insurance score of the match, for her first two goals of 2026.
"Getting back on the field after being injured means so much to me, and being able to do it near my hometown with my family there to watch made it even more special," said Markee. "I'm proud of the way we competed on the road and came away with two great conference wins. Being able to contribute with two goals wouldn't have been possible without my amazing teammates and coaches."
Coach Baker on Markee: "We were down to seven healthy subs just 10 days ago. Getting Sutton and two others back has meant a lot to our group. Sutton playing back home in Texas and getting the gamewinner versus North Texas was special for her. Showing skill and composure for our third yesterday was the icing on the cake. We are happy she is back and contributing to our attack."
