Swim & Dive Set for CSCAA Open Water Championship

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Nine members of the Florida Atlantic swimming team are set to compete in the annual CSCAA Open Water Championship on Saturday, Dec. 13. The men will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women at 10:30 a.m. Live results will be available on CSCAA.org.
This year, the eight annual competition will held in Nathan Benderson Park, located in Sarasota, Florida.
For the Owls, five men and four women will be suiting up Saturday morning. On the women's side, Cica Carvalho, Talitha McEwan, Viktoria Sorensen, Alex Stevens will be swimming with Sabian Branch, Gianni Carlino, Rush Clark, Akant Durur, Brody Singley for the men.
2024 CSCAA OPEN WATER CHAMPIONSHIP
LAST TIME OUT
Daniel Laureyssens and Leyton Roe competed at the Toyota U.S. Open with both men swimming in the 50 fly with times of 24.88 and 25.03 respectively. Roe made the "C" final for a third time swimming 24.34. Roe also swam the 50 free swam a time of 22.94 and 22.93 in the "C" final while Laureyssens followed closely behind swimming 23.34. In the 100 fly, Roe swam 55.28 and 54.89 in the "C" final, with Laureyssens in the 200 free finishing in a time of 1:53.04.
ABOUT CSCAA
With nearly 210 athletes from over 40 universities nationwide from institutions across the nation, including NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA, the event promises to be a thrilling showcase of endurance and skill.
ON DECK
The next meet for the Owls will be on December 15 in Coral Cables as the Owls face the University of Miami women's team and Cincinnati.

- The Owl men's team compiled of graduate Logan Thornsberry, Francesco Fiore and Takoda Heckman, finishing in a team total time of 3:46.36
- On the women's side, the Owls team of Ella Freeman, Presley Staretz, Stevens and McEwan complied a time of 3:36.30, good for 15th place
- Freeman led the Owls finishing in 52nd place
