Swim and Dive Earns Eight on CSC Academic All-District

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team was released with eight Florida Atlantic swimmers and divers honored on the list and one Owl moving on to the All-America ballot.
The program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Cica Carvalho, Ella Freeman, Talitha McEwan and Ludo Pavia on the women's side, along with Gianni Carlino, Daniel Laureyssens*, Leyton Roe, and John Reese Taylor from the men's team were named to the CSC Academic All-District team in honor of their tremendous efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
Laureyssens has been selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists, denoted with an asterisk, and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on April 29. The senior currently has a 3.800 cumulative GPA, majoring in International Business. Laureyssens' senior season was historic, totaling six medals, five of them being gold. He became the first male Owl since 2006 to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championship meet.
In her final season with the Owls, Carvalho continues to be a standout in the classroom, earning the Owlspys' Dr. Shaw Award for Academic Excellence, currently getting her degree in Business Economics. She holds a 4.00 GPA. This is her second straight season on the All-District team. Carvalho once again helped score points for FAU at the 2026 American Conference Championships, finishing 12th in the 500 free.
Freeman concluded her Florida Atlantic career on the podium. At the American Championships, she won her first conference championship medal, taking home bronze in the 200 breast. This is her second straight season on the All-District team. The Exercise Science and Health Promotion major has a 3.951 GPA.
For the first time in her career, McEwan was named to the CSC All-District team, currently holds a 3.938 GPA, studying Pre-Business: International Business. In her sophomore season, McEwan was a big contributor for FAU, qualifying for the A final in the 200 and 500 free.
Pavia is another first-time CSC All-District team honoree. The sophomore from Torino, Italy represented Florida Atlantic in three events at the American Championships. Currently studying Pre-Business: International Business, Pavia boasts a 3.845 GPA.
His second consecutive season earning the honor, Carlino wrapped up his swimming career for the Owls, scoring in both the 500 and 1650 free events, providing big points toward the title win. Completing his degree in International Business, he currently holds a 3.896 GPA.
Roe earned his first CSC All-District Team honor. Pursuing a degree in Data Science and Analytics, he currently holds a 3.890 GPA. This past season, Roe had an immediate impact in his first season with the Owls, finishing tied for sixth in the 50 free at the ASUN Championships and was a member of the 400 free gold medal, program record relay that clinched FAU the championship.
The eighth Owl to be named to the CSC All-District Team is Reese Taylor. Pursuing a degree in Pre-Business: International Business, he currently holds a 3.730 GPA. This past season, Taylor provided big points for the Owls at the ASUN Championships. The North Carolina native, set three program records this season, individually in the 100 and 200 breast.
