BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the annual CSCAA Open Water Championship on Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park.
On the men's side, the Owls were represented by
Sabian Branch,
Gianni Carlino,
Rush Clark,
Akant Durur,
Brody Singley with
Cica Carvalho,
Talitha McEwan, Viktoria Sorensen,
Alex Stevens on the women's side.
Saturday's competition featured a total of 207 athletes from 40 institutions competing in the 5K event, with 118 swimmers in the women's race and 89 in the men's field.
QUICK HITS
- The top finisher on the women's side for the Owls was Carvalho finishing 15th overall in a time of 59:35.9.
- Freshman Sorensen finished right behind Carvalho in 16th (59:36.1).
- McEwan and Stevens were the next to Owl finishers swimming 1:00:42.4 and 1:03:19.4 respectively.
- On the men's side, FAU was led by Carlino finishing 15th, swimming 55:26.6
- Durur (55:37.3), Clark (56:19.2), Singley (56:21.8), and Branch (58:34.8) rounded out the field for the Owls.
ON DECK
The next meet for the Owls will be on Monday, Dec. 15 in Coral Cables as the Owls face the University of Miami women's team and Cincinnati.
