BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic football team is heading to Houston for a matchup against Rice on Saturday, Oct. 4. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Looking for their first American Conference win of the season, the Florida Atlantic Owls (1-3, 0-1) will face the Owls of Rice (3-2, 1-1) for the second time in three years, with Rice holding a slight 3-2 advantage in the all-time series.
Redshirt junior QB Caden Veltkamp, the nation's leader in completions per game, has recorded 300+ passing yards in three straight appearances and three of his four FAU games, the first FAU signal-caller to do so since 2019.
Defensively, junior LB Khmari Johnson has stepped up with increased playing time, most recently recording a 26-yard fumble return against Memphis.
Special teams continue to make an impact, currently fifth nationwide in blocked punts. Logan Lupo recently reached the 5,000-yard mark with FAU on a 49-yard punt that pinned Memphis to its own one-yard line.
