BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's golf is in seventh place after day one at the American Conference Championship in Brooksville, Fla. Freshman
Charlotte Perkins went low for an opening round of 69 (-3). She is tied for seventh individually with 36 holes to go.
- Playing the back nine first, Perkins caught fire after bogeys on 11 and 12. She birdied 13 and 15 and eagled the par five 16th to vault up the leaderboard.
- After going out in 34 (-2), the native of Sydney, Australia added one more birdie at the par four second hole in route to a one-under 35 on her second nine.
- The round of 69 is a new career best for the freshman. She is three off the individual lead held by UTSA's Daniela Abonce (-6).
- Second for the Owls is senior Olivia Bergner at +1 (73). Bergner went out in three-under 33 before falling back to one-over on the back nine. The German is tied for 23rd.
- Perkins wasn't the only Owl to make an eagle on Monday. Clemence Cadeac matched her teammate with a three of her own at 16. Cadeac posted a 74 and is tied for 30th.
- As a team, the Owls are +2 – four shots behind North Texas for sixth place. SMU leads the field at -10.
Tuesday's second round will get underway for the Owls at 8:50 a.m. on the 10th tee alongside Wichita State and Tulane. Live scoring can be followed on
