BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's golf sophomores Nancy Cox and Maddie Rathjen have been named to the American Women's Golf All-Conference team, the conference announced on Monday.
The top 10 players in the American Conference, according to the Clippd post-tournament national rankings, along with six additional players who finished inside the top seven and ties at the American Championship, comprise the all-conference team.
Rathjen earned her place on the all-conference team with a fifth-place finish at last week's American Conference Championship. It was the best finish of the season for the St. Augustine native and comes on the heels of a tie for 11th at last season's Championship.
Cox finished tied for 18th at the Conference Championship and solidified her all-conference honor as the ninth-highest-ranked player in the American, according to the Clippd rankings. The Ponte Vedra Beach native had a breakout sophomore campaign with seven Top-25 finishes in nine events. She led the Owls with a 73.33 scoring average, nine rounds of par or better, and 71 birdies.
The Owls finished tied for fourth as a team in the American Conference Championship. It's the fourth time in five years under Head Coach Heather Bowie Young that the Owls have recorded a Top-4 Conference Championship finish.
