BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball will be well-represented on the professional baseball level with nine former Owls continuing their professional playing careers in the 2023 season. Several former Owls are also involved in the coaching ranks with MLB organizations.  Â

Gomber begins his fifth full season in the major leagues and third with Colorado. A fourth-round pick by St. Louis in 2014, Gomber was dealt to the Rockies in 2021 as part of the deal for future Hall of Famer Nolan Arenado. The Winter Garden, Fla. native made 17 starts and finished with a 5-7 record in 2022.

Marman begins this season with the Columbus Clippers – the Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. Cleveland selected Marman in the 13th round of the 2018 draft and the native Ohioan has worked his way to one step below the big club. He appeared in 44 combined games between Double and Triple-A last season.

Wilson made his major league debut with the Nationals in 2021. After battling injuries in 2022, the 2018 13th round pick is once again knocking on the door of the majors. He'll begin this season with Washington's Triple-A affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings.

Murray was impressive in his first professional season, playing in 97 games combined between Single and High-A in the Chicago Cubs farm system. After representing Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic, he'll start 2023 in Double-A with the Tennessee Smokies.

The 2019 sixth round pick of the Cardinals spent time with both Triple-A Memphis and Double-A Springfield in 2022. He'll start this season with the latter after hitting .242 with six home runs and 28 RBI last season.

A 20th round pick by Cincinnati in 2021, Rivera pitched in 24 games between Single and High-A last season. He'll begin 2023 in High-A with the Dayton Dragons.

A 2019 11th round pick by the Rockies, Ruff started 2022 in High-A Spokane but earned himself a promotion to Double-A by midseason and that's where he'll begin 2023 – as a member of the Hartford Yard Goats in the Eastern League.

Urbaez signed as a free agent with Cincinnati in 2021 and appeared in 114 games between Double-A and High-A last season. He'll start 2023 with the Chattanooga Lookouts after hitting .281 with 22 RBI in 46 games last summer.

The newest addition to the Owls in the Pros club, Rincones was selected by Philadelphia in the third round of the MLB draft last summer. The 2022 Conference USA Newcomer Player of the Year hit .345 with 19 home runs and 69 RBIs in his one season with the Owls. He'll begin his professional journey with the Clearwater Threshers – the Phillies' Single-A affiliate.
