BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls (16-11, 8-6 AAC) head back out on the road this weekend as they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take on the Charlotte 49ers on Friday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 12.
- The Owls enter the two-match series at 16-11 overall and 8-6 in AAC play and currently rank 7th in the AAC. This past weekend, the Owls earned their first series sweep of the season, defeating the Memphis Tigers in a pair of four-set wins.
- As a team, the Owls lead the AAC in assists per set (12.68) and rank second in the league in total attacks (3,595), kills (1,340), kills per set (13.67), and assists (1,243).
- Arianna Beckham leads the Owls attack, boasting a team-leading 286 kills, tallying 2.95 per set this season.
- Valeria Rosado and Katelynn Robine also help lead the Owls' attack, recording 215 and 201 kills, averaging 2.24 and 2.28 kills per set, respectively.
- Victoria Hensley is the Owls leading setter, dishing out a team-best 883 assists, averaging 9.01 assists per set through 27 matches.
- Defensively, the Owls' leading libero is Isabelle Northam, who boasts a team-best 404 digs, averaging 4.11 digs per set.
- The Owls' blocking leaders are Kaila Ru and Lauryn Green, who have tallied 65 and 63 blocks, averaging 0.74 and 0.88 blocks per set this season.
- Charlotte enters this weekend's series at 10-16 overall and 3-11 in AAC play, ranking 12th in the AAC.
- As a team, the Tigers rank second in service aces (146) and third in total attacks (3,251) and aces per set (1.59).
- Lara Kretschmer is the 49ers offensive leader with 220 kills, averaging 2.27 per set through 26 games this season.
- Charlotte's offense is run through Annika Wetterstrom, who has dished out a team-leading 624 assists, averaging 6.43 per set this season.
- Defensively, the 49ers back row is led by libero Sophie Whalen who has tallied a team-leading 382 digs, averaging 3.94 digs per set, while Kretschmer and Sydney Baham are the 49ers blocking leaders at 1.09 blocks per set with 106 and 98 blocks, respectively.
- Florida Atlantic leads the all-time series between the Owls and the 49ers, 15-7. The Owls also hold the advantage in contest played in Charlotte, 7-2. Last season, the Owls and 49ers split the season series with the Owls capturing a five-set win on Oct. 7, 2022, in Charlotte, but fell in four sets during their second meeting on Nov. 6, 2022, in Boca Raton.
- The Owls will return home next week as they host in-state rival USF for senior weekend on Thursday, Nov. 16 and Friday, Nov. 17.
