BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic volleyball's setter
Maya Van Heyst helped lead the Owls against North Texas and UTSA, earning American Honorable Mention honors, as announced by the league office on Monday.
The honor marks the fifth American weekly award for the Owls this season and Van Heyst's third

American career weekly honor.
Van Heyst had a career weekend in the Lone Star State, leading the Owls against North Texas and in a five-set reverse sweep against UTSA. The graduate setter eclipsed the 3,000-career assist mark during her 51-assist performance at UTSA. She dished out a league-leading 95 assists, averaging 9.5 assists per set, to go along with 16 digs, averaging 1.6 digs per set, seven kills, one ace, and a block over the weekend.
Against North Texas, Van Heyst dished out 44 assists, and added eight digs, three kills, a block, and an ace on Friday, before closing out the weekend with 51 assists, along with eight digs and four kills, during the Owls' win over UTSA.

The Owls return to Paradise to open their American home slate this weekend, welcoming Temple on Friday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. and Rice on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m.
