BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team has officially unveiled its tournament schedule for the fall of 2022 and spring of 2023. Now in her second season as head coach,
Heather Bowie Young will lead the Owls through nine regular season events leading up to the Conference USA Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. next April.
The fall schedule features four events beginning with the William & Mary Fall Invite in Williamsburg, Va. on September 12. After a trip to South Carolina for the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman, the Owls will host their first event of the campaign on Oct. 3 and 4. FAU will look to repeat as team champions and
Letizia Bagnoli will defend her individual title at the Jupiter Women's Invitational. The fall session closes with a trip to Hattiesburg, Miss. on Halloween.
The Owls will start the spring season with back-to-back home events in sunny South Florida. First up is the FAU Paradise Invitational at Osprey Point GC just down the road from campus on Feb. 6 and 7. The Atlantic Invitational at Indian Spring CC in Boynton Beach will follow two weeks later. The final stretch before the postseason includes events hosted by Florida, Clemson, and Mercer.
After finishing in a program-best tie for third last season, the Owls will once again take on the challenging PGA National for the Conference USA Championship beginning April 17. Bagnoli will serve as defending champion after a commanding seven-shot victory last spring.
The Owls will hope their season continues to the NCAA Regionals where they would return to PGA National to host once more. After that, the DI National Championship will take place in late May at Grayhawk GC in Scottsdale, Ariz.
"We are looking forward to a very competitive schedule this season," noted Bowie Young. "It will require us to be focused and determined for every tournament. We're looking forward to hosting three times in the regular season as well as being the host institution for the C-USA Championship and the NCAA Regional Championship."
FAU returns six players from last season, led by Bagnoli, the five-time Women's Golfer of the Week, and reigning C-USA Player of the Year.
