LYNCHBURG, Va. – FAU junior diver
Alicia Mora led the way for the Owls in the Conference USA Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday. Mora set an FAU record in the 3-meter dive on route to earning the individual conference title.
Mora dove to a score of 358.90 which shattered the former school record, which was held by herself. The junior from Madrid, Spain's previous record was at 336.25, a mark she achieved at last year's conference championship meet. The individual conference title marks the first for Mora in her career.
Maggie Casey wound up on the podium with a second-place finish in the 500 free. Casey swam to a 4:51.00 in the 'A' final of the 500 to bring home the silver medal.
Roberta Circi swam to a 2:00.31 in the 200 IM 'A' final to nab fourth place. Also competing in the 3-meter dive was
Selina Staudenherz, who took fourth with a score of 302.20.
As a team, the Owls stand in fifth place with 190 points.
Day three of the Conference USA Swimming & Diving starts with the prelims tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
