Laureyssens Wraps Up Collegiate Career at NCAA Championships

ATLANTA, Ga – Florida Atlantic men's swimmer Daniel Laureyssens ended his collegiate career, representing FAU the 2026 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, collegiate's highest stage. The four-day event was hosted by Georgia Tech and held inside McAuley Aquatic Center.
Laureyssens, who qualified for both the 50 and 200 free events, is the first male Owl since 2006 to qualify for the NCAA Championship meet.
On Thursday, he swam the 200 free in a time of 1:34.49. Laureyssens came back the following day for the 50 free where he swam 19.54, the second fastest time of his career. Neither qualifying for the evening's final.
The native of Brasschaat, Belgium, concludes his two-year Florida Atlantic career as one of the most decorated swimmers in the program history.
LAUREYSSEN'S CAREER
In two years with the Owls, Laureyssens led FAU to their first conference championship and leaves holding school records in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 fly, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay. He broke two Rosen Aquatic and Fitness Center (50 free, 200 free) facility records and took home 12 ASUN medals.
At the 2026 ASUN Championships, Laureyssens punched his ticket to the NCAA Championship meet and earned five gold medals on his way to being named ASUN Male Most Outstanding Swimmer and ASUN Swimming Scholar Athlete of the Year, the first Owl to earn each honor.
