BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sporting the best ranking in program history and the program's longest season-opening winning streak, the No. 33 nationally ranked Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team (8-0) will travel to Coral Gables, Florida for a Friday, Feb. 25 match scheduled for 10 a.m. versus No. 35 Miami.
The two teams share recent common opponents in Mercer and Georgia State. Both FAU and Miami won those matches last weekend. This will be the 20th meeting between FAU and UM with the last win for the Owls coming back in 2002, a 4-3 decision in Coral Gables. Coincidentally, the previous long season opening winning streak of six was in 2002 .
The Owls continue to be led by the steady play of junior
Kevin Huempfner and sophomore
Finn Stodder. The German duo both hold a 7-0 dual match singles record. Sophomore
Gerard Escandell has reached a match decision eight times and holds a 7-1 record.
Carles Sarrio moved to 5-3 on the season after going 4-0 in his singles and doubles contests over the weekend.
Alvaro Fernandez Horta is contributing at a 6-2 clip.
