BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team traveled to Coral Gables, Florida where the Owls, ranked No. 33 in the latest ITA national poll, dropped their first match of 2022 to host Miami, ranked No. 35, 4-1.
The Owls, holding the highest rank in program history and riding an eight-game season opening winning streak, came out of the gates fast with wins on doubles courts one and three to clinch the doubles point.
Miami evened the match with a win on court 4 and took the one-point lead with a win on court five. On court six,
Finn Stodder fell 6-0 in the first set and took the second set to a 7-6 tiebreaker before seeing his winning streak come to a close at seven. Miami then clinched the match with its fourth singles win on court one where FAU's Carles Sarrino fell to UM's No. 117 ranked Dan Martin 7-5, 6-3.

Kevin Huempfner, who entered the match with an unblemished 7-0 record, split sets and was up 2-0 in the third before the match was designated as unfinished. FAU's
Alvaro Fernandez Horta's match was also unfinished with the third set tied at 4-4.
