Owls Fall 4-3 in Three Hour Match

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's tennis suffered a 4-3 loss to Charlotte on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference tune-up.

The Owls' regular season concludes with an 8-11 record. Charlotte improved to 14-7.

THE BEGINNING
The Owls cruised through doubles play taking the point in less than 30 minutes with a Segundo Goity Zapico / Simon Myslivec taking court #2 by a 6-0 score and moments later No. 88 Mark Havlicek / Marek Pazdera clinched the match with a 6-1 court #1 win.

THE MIDDLE
Singles were a different story. Charlotte took the lead with wins on courts #2 and #3; but that was short lived courtesy of a 6-4, 6-0 win on the top court by Havlicek. His win evened the match at two all.

THE END
The bottom three courts were still in play, two needing a full three sets to clinch the win. Charlotte pulled within one of earning the match with a three-set win on court #6. Sophomore Jan Kusy evened the match at 3-3 after two and a half hours of work on court #5 with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 win shifting attention to court #4. Charlotte captured used three sets on that court to secure the match victory.
