BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team played with emotion from the first serve to the clinching point in Sunday morning's 4-0 dominant win over regional foe Georgia State. The win pushes the Owls season-opening winning streak to eight, while GSU falls to 3-4 on the season.

In a continued effort to build a post-season resume, the Owls were ready for Georgia State, which had defeated several individual Owls during Fall Tournament play. The match avenged a 2020 4-2 loss to the Panthers and improved FAU's all-time series record to 10-6 GSU.

Doubles play set the tone of Sunday's match with FAU taking courts one and three, and the Owls were up on court two when the point was clinched. FAU needed just three singles court wins to secure the win and were up on every court at the matches' conclusion. The Owls recorded wins on courts two, four and five. Both Kevin Huempfner (court 1) and Finn Stodder (court 6) remain perfect on the season; however, their matches were not completed, so while FAU moves to 8-0 on the year, the German duo remain 7-0.

"We continue to make progress as a team," said Ricardo Gonzalez, FAU's Director of Tennis. "Our team is committed and playing with a lot of heart and trust in each other. We are taking steps in the right direction. Miami is next up. They are a great team and we are excited about another challenge ahead of us."
