BOCA RATON, Fla. – Letizia Bagnoli of Florida Atlantic University women's golf, fresh off her weekend tournament win, is the latest Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
Bagnoli fired an 8-under par total to top the field of 79 at the William & Mary Fall Invitational at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. Her three-round score of 208 was four better than the runner-up, as one of just five competitors under par for the entire tournament. In fact, Bagnoli was the only golfer in the event to shoot under par in every round (68-71-69).
"I'm extremely excited to receive the C-USA Player of the Week Award," said Bagnoli. "I can't wait to see what the rest of the season holds!"
The Owls' newcomer took the tournament win in her FAU debut, as a transfer from Wake Forest. The senior and native of Florence, Italy, had 50 holes of par or better among the 54, including 12 birdies, which tied for the tourney best.
"I am extremely proud of Leti," added head coach
Heather Bowie Young. "She's put in the work and has a great attitude. It is nice to see her being rewarded."
FAU heads to Alabama next for the UAB Invite. The two-day tournament starts next Monday, Sept. 20, in Birmingham at the Hoover Country Club.
