BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University men's tennis played its third match in three days, returning home Sunday after trips north to Deland, Florida, and Statesboro, Georgia. The Owls saw a three-match winning streak come to an end at the hands of No. 36 USF at the FAU Tennis Complex, 5-2.
Notables:
- For the third time in as many matches, the Owls (4-4) won the doubles point for the early advantage
- The No. 2 pairing of Kevin Huempfner and Alvaro Fernandez Horta won, 6-4, after the Bulls (6-2) had taken court No. 3
- The clinch came when Maxime Lapraille and Filip Krolo took a 6-4 decision over the nationally-ranked No. 38 doubles pair according to Oracle/ITA
- Singles went the Bulls' way quickly, winning the first five decisions
- Huempfner closed out the day on a positive note for the Owls, winning a three-setter on No. 3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5)
