Owls Ends Season Series with FGCU on Tuesday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University baseball plays Florida Gulf Coast for the fourth and final time on Tuesday night, a makeup game from an earlier weekend rain postponement. First pitch in Fort Myers will be at 5 p.m.

Owls' Weekend in Review
The Owls (14-9) started out Conference USA play in the best way possible, taking all four games from visiting Marshall over the weekend. They outscored the Thundering Herd 35-11 in the series, and batted .319 as a team with 12 extra-base hits, including five home runs. Six regulars hit .308 or better, led by B.J. Murray's .545 average (6-for-11), and Nolan Schanuel's eight RBI. The FAU pitching staff held a collective 3.30 ERA, limited Marshall to a .230 average, and struck out 32 batters in 30 innings.

Owls' Midweek in Preview
FGCU (13-9) was on the road at Stetson in their Atlantic Sun opening weekend, and lost two of three to the Hatters. Still, three Eagles are at .365 or higher on the year, led by Richie Garcia at .372. He is second on the squad with 18 RBI, trailing Joe Kinker with 21.

Midweek Probable Starting Pitching Matchup
So far this season, FAU has taken two of three from the Eagles. In Fort Myers on Feb. 23, in the first midweek of the year for both teams, the Owls prevailed, 3-1. On March 5 and March 7 in Boca Raton, the squads split, with FGCU winning on Friday, 8-0, and FAU on Sunday, 14-9. All-time, the Eagles lead the series by a slim 13-11 margin. The Owls have won four of the last five.
