Eight Owls Earn Phil Steele Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Eight Florida Atlantic University Owls earned a spot among the 2021 Phil Steele Magazine postseason All-Conference USA list, as announced by the magazine on Tuesday.

Offensively, running back Johnny Ford was a third team member while FAU center Nick Weber was named fourth team.

Defensively, seniors Zyon Gilbert and Jordan Helm earned spots on second team at cornerback and safety, respectively. Safety Teja Young represented FAU on third team while nose tackle Evan Anderson and nickel Korel Smith were selected as fourth team honorees.

Punter Matt Hayball was named third team.

The Owls will open the 2022 schedule at Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 3. Players listed above in bold are expected to return to campus in January to begin preparation for that contest..
