BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University football returns home for the first time in nearly a month, and will have Homecoming festivities before a 6 p.m. tilt against UTEP at FAU Stadium. Fresh off soundly defeating Charlotte, who came into last week's matchup undefeated in league play, the Owls (4-3, 2-1 Conference USA) will battle another unblemished C-USA foe in the Miners (6-1, 3-0 C-USA).Â
In last Thursday's contest against the 49ers, the Owls trailed 9-7 at the half, but put up 31 unanswered points to close out the game. There is now a logjam at the top of the C-USA East Division standings, with FAU and Charlotte, as well as Marshall and WKU, all sitting at 2-1. On the other side, the West, both UTEP (3-0) and UTSA (4-0) have yet to suffer a loss.
Additionally Saturday, FAU's home winning streak continues to be put on the line. Only one school had a chance to extend or see their streak snapped last week, and it was the latter, with Army falling at home to Wake Forest, 70-56. That was the Black Knights' first home loss after 13 win in a row, which was fifth-highest heading into the weekend.

The FAU-UTEP series stands at 1-1 with each team winning on their own home field. The Owls fell 27-17 in 2015 in El Paso and were 35-31 winners in Boca Raton in 2016. Oddly enough, there are four current Owls were on that latter squad, but none saw action. They are second-year captain and running back
James Charles and then-receiver and now-tight end
John Mitchell, as well as defenders
Korel Smith and
Jordan Helm.
