Six Owls Named Team Captain

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Prior to the beginning of fall camp, second-year Hagerty Family Head Football Coach Zach Kittley announced the six team captains for Florida Atlantic football's 2026 season: DL CJ Doggette Jr., OL Vincent Fiacable, LB Leon Hart Jr., WR Easton Messer, DB Tyson Rooks, and QB Caden Veltkamp.
Doggette Jr., Messer, and Veltkamp are all captains for the second consecutive year while newcomer Rooks joins Fiacable and Hart Jr. as first-timers.
Veltkamp will serve as Coach Kittley and the offense's field general after leading the nation in completions with his top target and All-Conference honoree Messer leading in receptions. Fiacable served as the unit's starting center for 12 games and will see time at guard in '26.
All three levels of the defense are represented with returning captain and All-Conference member Doggette Jr. coming off leading the team in sacks, while Hart Jr., another All-Conference recipient, led the team in tackles. Rooks joins the Owls after four seasons with Illinois. He now reunites with position coach Antonio Fenelus.
Fall camp is fully underway as the team prepares for its season opener on Sept. 5 against Florida.
