FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University men's tennis evened up their record at 1-1 with a 5-2 win on the road Saturday night over Florida Gulf Coast.
 
Notables:
	- The Owls swept the doubles portion to go up 1-0
 
	- Kevin Huempfner and Alvaro Fernandez Horta took the first decision, winning 6-2 on No. 2, then Maxime Lapraille and Filip Krolo earned a 6-4 victory on No. 1
 
	- At No. 3, Gerard Escandell and Finn Stodder were leading, 5-3, when the point was tallied
 
	- The first two singles results were split, with Fernandez Horta winning on No. 4 (6-4, 6-3)
 
	- Stodder's first win in an Owl uniform made it a 3-1 advantage, also 6-4, 6-3
 
	- The clinching point came courtesy of Escandell, taking the No. 5 matchup in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 6-1)
 
	- Huempfner won two tiebreaks on court No. 3 to extend the lead, 7-6 (12-10), 7-5. Like Stodder, this marked his first FAU victory
 
	- Finally, the first court went to a third set and a 10-point tiebreaker. Lapraille was barely edged out, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 0-1 (7-10)

The Owls head out west for a doubleheader in the Grand Canyon State. Next Friday, at 4 p.m. Eastern, they will be in Tempe, Arizona, to play Arizona State; the following day, at 3 p.m. Eastern, it's off to Tucson to battle Arizona (who received votes in the preseason Oracle/ITA poll).
