BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team is ready to commence the 2021 indoor track & field season tomorrow with a pair of meets hosted by UAB this weekend. FAU will kick off the weekend Friday at the Blazer Invitational and close out opening weekend at the Vulcan Invitational on Saturday. Both meets will run all day at the Birmingham Crossplex with no fans allowed.

Head coach, Alex Smolka:
"It's definitely going to be a new experience," said Smolka. "They really weren't sure if they were going to be able to race, and now finally being able to race, we will see exactly how the nerves are going to handle the actual racing."
Â
Associate head coach, Willie Randolph
"The turnaround was quick, but the preparation in the fall was extreme in the sense of just the conditioning part," said Randolph. "The girls came back in some pretty good shape on all accounts, but we still need a little bit more time to fine-tune some things because they haven't been race-sharp in a while, so that's the thing we have been working on right now... Being track & field in comparison to other sports, we can put the numbers together so they are ready to go on the day that matters."Â
